It's Open Studios time again, this time with the Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum, or HVAF for short. Five of us are exhibiting at Artscape Artshop in Harpenden, where the owner has kindly allowed us (yet again) to use a large first floor room. You'll find all the details on the poster above if you clicky-clicky on it, but there is one amendment - we won't now be open on Friday mornings.
Open Studios is a great opportunity to meet artists and learn about their work and if you live in the Hertfordshire area it's worth checking out the full brochure here. Just click on the different areas listed on the blue menu, which runs along the top, for the full programme.
We had great fun hanging our exhibition on Tuesday - there are lots of different types of surfaces to hang onto at the venue and it's easy to start getting fixated on fixings, but it all got put up in the end. You just have to accept that it's impossible to get everything straight in this life. I think straight pictures must be one of the rewards that artists get in heaven, along with masking fluid that doesn't bung up your brushes and Private Views with more than 10 people at them.
My pictures, not looking in the least bit straight

Just to jazz things up, I have moody black and white photos hanging this year, along with the paintings. Variety is the spice of life.
If any of you have an idle moment and want to come along and heckle while we try to paint then it would be lovely to see you. You may feel the overwhelming compulsion to straighten a picture....
